Life in the Fast Lane (LITFL)

“Sparkson introduces an ingenious way of understanding cardiac electrophysiology through the use of characters and visual metaphors. This book truly shines with its unique visual approach to a subject that many students find intimidating.”

Amazing guide to EKGs! Glad I have this for school!

I'm in a pretty rigorous fast paced PA program and we had to learn EKGs in the span of 3 weeks... this book saved my life. So well written, amazing illustrations and wonderful ways to remember details that I'll need as a future clinician. Worth the money spent. Thank you to the author - an awesome PA!

Better than Dubin's!

We had to learn ECGs over break (PA student here) and came back to a quiz to assess where we were at before being formally taught. The class average was a 57% and I got a 90%. I HIGHLY recommend Sparkson's over Dubin's. I purchased both. Sparkson's has a better format, and is much easier to read. The pictures and memory devices make learning the nuances of ECGs so much easier, and he has ways to help you remember literally everything. Each chapter has a recap and bullet points on big concepts, so it has built in review sheets.

Pediatrician Approved

A great mixture of whimsy and concise but comprehensive text. I wish this book had existed during my first few years of medical school. For visual learners especially this book is a treasure and could be appropriate for all members of a medical team (EMT to MD/DO, and everyone in between.) Happy learning leads to retention, not regurgitation.

Very complete EKG book for beginner and intermediate

I am an Internal Medicine Physician that loves learning about EKG. It has the simplicity of "The Only ECG Book You Will Ever Need" with the complexity of "ECG Pocket Brain"... with added memory tools to simplify learning. It has excellent narration that makes reading seamless as if you were reading a novel, and the pictures are funny without being distracting. Hands down better than the Dubin.

Adorable, funny, AND educational

I am a paramedic and an educator. I absolutely love this book. For the beginner, it's easy to understand and entertaining enough to hold the reader's interest through some pretty dry content. It uses a great combination of illustration, effective explanation, and creative analogies to explain ECGs. This is a book that is truly made to teach anyone.

Excellent Book!

I am currently in Paramedic class. We have been going over ECGs and I was struggling some. I am a visual learner, so I found this book. This book really helped me clear up some things I was confused on. Some of the graphics are also funny! It gives you a nice "break" in between. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent coverage of material for review or new learners!

21 year medic and like all of us... I loathe reviewing material. Particularly Cardiology. This book makes it fun and easy to understand. This is a great book for paramedic students or us dinosaurs reviewing concepts and material. Highly recommend.

Go to EKG learning book for visual learners

Used this book during my EKG section for PA school and LOVED it. I had previously tried using other books and just wasn't picking it up because they were too technical/boring and I would lose interest. I'm a big fan of medcomic and the characters really helped to send the message across and keep my interest. Months later when I'm trying to remember the pathology I still remember the characters because I'm a visual learner.

Must buy

This was recommended to me by a classmate in PA school since our EKG course was a little disorganized. This book cleared up so many questions I had about EKGs and is the sole reason I aced my EKG course! I never used my EKG textbook beyond the first chapter because this book did it all for me. The explanations are clear and the graphics are helpful. There are many examples in there for visual learners. I would take this book with me to EKG lecture and labs and it saved my life. Even now when I need an EKG refresher I turn to this book. If you're considering buying this book, please do!
